Giving and Speaking — an interesting mix

We’ve written before about the great things Brenda Thomson is making happen at Networking World in Australia (see the Home page story on what she does with her Lanyards as just one example).

But now she’s taking it even further in a wonderful way.

Here’s how it happened.

We noticed some really nice giving from  Brenda and, as we always do, we emailed to sincerely thank her.

And then this email came back from Brenda — it explains a lot:
 

Those last two big donations came from a speaking engagement I did where instead of getting paid I asked the attendees to make a donation to B1G1 instead.

I asked them to decide how much they wanted to pay and how they would like to allocate my fee.  They gave far more than I would have charged!

Very cool!  That is now my new speaking engagement model.

We agree — it is VERY cool. And a great example of how B1G1 giving allows you to really ‘connect’ in a different way.

Notice too how Brenda’s given total control to the customer — not just on the amount but on the destination of the giving. It’s a great example of how many great things flow when we learn to let go.

It's really interesting too how things 'open-up' in new ways when you open yourself and stop over-thinking things. B1G1 is the perfect platform to make that happen. Come and join us; it's a fascinating place to be.
