B1G1, or Buy1GIVE1, is a global business giving initiative launched in 2007 and headquartered in Singapore.
B1G1 is a social enterprise, comprised of a for-profit company, BUY1GIVE1 PTE LTD, and a registered Society called B1G1 Giving. Our for-profit company provides support to giving businesses, continuously builds systems to maximize giving effectiveness, and actively promotes this new way of giving.
B1G1 Giving is a non-profit Society, registered in Singapore. The Board of B1G1 Giving monitors and maintains the integrity and transparency of all contributions made through B1G1’s Giving Engine making sure that 100% of the giving goes to the designated Worthy Cause project chosen by you — the giving company or individual.
We are often asked this question.
B1G1 is funded mainly by the membership subscriptions of B1G1 Business Members and Partners. In addition, some B1G1 initiatives (such as our events) are funded by sponsorships. Finally, many people with different skills volunteer their time and expertise to B1G1 without compensation.
Through all of these vehicles, B1G1 is able to sustain itself and work continuously to enhance your giving experiences.
B1G1 is different from giving initiatives you may have encountered before.
We focus on registered charities that are delivering real-world benefits to people in need. We don’t limit ourselves to a particular geographic region, but instead find and support Worthy Causes in a host of different countries. We don’t limit ourselves to particular types of charitable groups – such as those dealing only with education, or with housing – because we know that different businesses may be interested in supporting very different types of causes. In our eyes, all of these causes are important. We let you make the choices.
Most importantly, we see our role as one of ensuring that you find the Worthy Cause that is uniquely relevant to you, to your business, your employees, your customers, and your business partners. Because we know that when you find Worthy Causes you ‘connect’ with and are able to give to them consistently, you find a sense of purpose that inevitably transforms your business and all those who are touched by it.
At B1G1, we are always focused on the effect your giving is having on people’s lives.
We don’t believe that being able to say you gave xx dollars to Charity A is very meaningful for most people – it doesn’t give them the sense of connection that they’re really seeking from their giving.
So at B1G1, we focus single-mindedly on telling you exactly what real-world effects your contributions are having on the ground.
Absolutely!
If you already support a specific charity whose work is especially meaningful to you, you can continue to support them through B1G1.
In fact, we continuously expand our Worthy Cause list partly as a result of the recommendations we receive from our B1G1 Members and Partners.
B1G1 does not take anything from your giving nor does it receive anything from the Worthy Causes (Worthy Causes join B1G1 for free).
Rather, 100% of your giving goes to the charity or charities you select, to maximize the impact for the intended beneficiaries.
And of course, our financial records are filed with the Singapore Government and publicly available for your review.
Not at all. B1G1 is focused on creating a world full of giving, not just on specific one-off transactions (although we’re happy to facilitate those as well).
Ideally, we want every business around the world to give regularly to a selection of Worthy Causes that are perfectly suited to them.
A B1G1 Member subscribes to a renewable Annual Membership option, currently priced at US$365 per year. This option provides access to all B1G1 membership privileges, and is well suited to those who want to try out the B1G1 Giving Engine without making a long-term commitment.
A B1G1 Partner is a company that is already keen to work with B1G1 on a long-term basis. This option involves a one-time fee of US$1,000, with no need for further renewals. B1G1 Partners have permanent access to all features of the B1G1 Giving Engine.
Both B1G1 Member and B1G1 Partner options are specially designed for companies with fewer than 30 employees. If you represent a larger company, please contact us for special corporate initiatives.
Once you become a B1G1 Member, you can upgrade to B1G1 Partner status, provided the Partnership offer is still in effect at that time.
However, the B1G1 Partnership fee structure is subject to change. And, after 3 months of membership, the fees you paid for the Membership cannot be refunded or used to offset the amount payable for the Partnership program.
