The purpose-driven business series features a different Business for Good to showcase their unique giving stories. We hope these stories inspire you with interesting, new and joyful ideas on how to integrate giving into your business.
Giving is the value that connects strangers like family. Blindness is something that connects this week’s featured team to their clients.
Introducing…Feng Shui Harmony!
Who: Carolyn McCallum from Feng Shui Harmony
Where: Sydney, Australia
What: I help people ensure the energy in their current or future homes and business is as supportive as possible using the Traditional system of Feng Shui
Can you give us a sense of why you decided to start giving?
The Chinese believe that a third of what happens to you in your life is based on the type of person you are (Human Luck or Karma). If you give, you get back in return. I’ve always donated a proportion of my earnings to charity and my business has grown every year since it started in 2009.
What are your favourite project(s) to give to and why?
My favourite project is giving to Women’s Education. By assisting their learning they are better placed to get better work and therefore derive a better income for their family.
How would you describe the impact B1G1 has had on your company and its culture?
It is integral as I discuss it with each client I see (I have had over 1500 clients) and I love spreading the word of the importance of giving back.
What’s the best experience you’ve had through your giving activities and being a part of B1G1?
My group calls with Paul in the early stages of setting up my business really helped me ensure I kept the importance of giving at the centre of my business.
