Cambodia has high rates of human sex trafficking, leaving young innocent girls scarred for life. Young girls living in poverty and without education are highly susceptible being trafficked. Free to Shine puts an end to this harsh reality by empowering young women in Cambodia with the vital tool of education. Free to Shine finds its way into some of the most inaccessible villages in Cambodia, carefully identifying girls most at risk and gifts them with a new chance at life.
Every year, Sala Baï Hotel & Restaurant School trains 100 young disadvantaged Cambodians for the hospitality industry. And it does it free-of-charge. Every student comes from a family living in severe poverty. Female candidates form around 70% of enrolments due to their lower access to education and the higher vulnerability they face in Siem Reap where poverty and human trafficking are on the rise. Teenagers are equipped with specialised skills for life through intensive vocational training in Restaurant Service, Cooking, Front Office and Housekeeping.
