The purpose-driven business series features a different Business for Good every Thursday to showcase their unique giving stories. We hope these stories inspire you with interesting, new and joyful ideas on how to integrate giving into your business.
This week we feature a company who so deeply embodies the essence of giving, the smiles on their own faces aren’t enough to express the joy giving brings to their business.
Who: Colin Chenery from Miessence ONEgroup
Where: Nerang, Australia
What: A business of innovative certified organic product manufacturing and distribution utilising a multichannel model.
Can you give us a sense of why you decided to start giving?
Every aspect of our company is modelled and managed on the values and ideals of the company owners and key stakeholders. Making B1G1 a primary alliance partner in our Miessence Foundation has been a great fit! Our company Foundation is an extension of our social responsibility ethos which is leveraged so effortlessly for us through B1G1 on a global platform – going to those who most need it, in projects we feel aligned and inspired about.
What are your favourite project(s) to give to and why?
We have many regular projects that are spread globally – from environmental forest growth and management projects, to eco-preneur projects that help locals and communities build their own food supply chains and local vermiculture. Education programs for children are a big one as it is one of the most effective ways to break the poverty cycle in many countries. Fresh clean water is another favourite which all people in these current times should be able to access easily.
How would you describe the impact B1G1 has had on your company and its culture?
Having a business which is managed, offering products and services and supportive to those involved internationally on a basis healthy and sustainable values for people and the planet is a key driver for us. Making change through the way we do business and impact lives. B1G1 helps us fulfil this beyond our customer and representative base to impacting many communities, families and individuals who are really in need. This contributes to the sense of meaning and purpose many feel who are involved in our company and share our vision.
What’s the best experience you’ve had through your giving activities and being a part of B1G1?
It really is about the smiles and life enrichment of those the projects are for. The updates on those projects and images of those involved are the best part of the giving activities.
